The American way of life: energy savings, environment, and health

This article deals with the transition of American people's awareness towards energy savings, environment, and health issues over the past 25 years since the first Energy Crisis of 1973-74. The Japan-born author who has resided in Southern California since her college years and who specializes in housing industry information observes how the 70's energy crisis affected the way homes were built, environmental protection and material conservations became vital issues as well as how the healthy house construction began to draw national attention. The article also contains some interesting data concerning the Site Energy Consumption per U.S. Housing Unit in 1978/87/97 and the Average Water Use per Home in the USA.
