Development of lane change intent inference method via driver's glances monitoring

摘要

This paper aims to illustrate how to respond to the lane-change intent inference when a driver performs a cognitively distractive activity. We investigate the cognitive activity's effects on driver's glances for changing lanes. Analysis on inferring driver intent based the effects indicates a necessity of a response to driver distraction. A discussion of inferring driver intent by responding driver distraction implies the inference's effectiveness to develop safe support systems for preventing a crash or a near-crash.
