Multimission communications systems are military systems that could be installed in multiple platforms and configured in more than one way. Such systems are vital to carrying out military operations, as they enable information to be shared among defense personnel and military weapons and systems. Demand for multimission communications over the next three to four years looks sound. Forecast International is projecting that defense departments worldwide will spend some $7.69 billion on 25 different multimission communications development, acquisition, and maintenance programs over the next decade. More specifically, this amount will be allocated for the development, procurement, or maintenance of multimission communications systems or technology. Additionally, from among the 18 different multimission communications products examined in this analysis, defense departments will buy 480,468 individual units over the next decade.
