Carolina Precast, East Tennessee Precast extend Hanson Pipe's market presence

Continuing to stake greater claim to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic markets, Dallas-based Hanson Pipe & Products Inc. has absorbed Carolina Precast Concrete Inc., Dunn, N.C., and East Tennessee Precast, Lenoir City. Serving the Carolinas and Virginia, the former company produces precast storm drainage and sanitary sewer system structures, along with culverts, utility enclosures, wells, tanks and piers. "Adding a well-known and respected company like Carolina Precast is consistent with our growth initiatives and complements our existing location in Oakboro, N.C.," says Eric Wheeler, president of the 27-plant Hanson Pipe Northeast region, under which the Dunn plant will operate (separately, note Hanson Pipe/ Columbus, pages 20-26). "By acquiring Carolina Precast, Hanson is introduced to a new geographic area for precast and is able to offer customers a full range of products."
