Online catalyst replacement of aromatics reforming plant

In Idemitsu Petrochemical Co.Chiba plant,Benzene and p-Xylene are produced by naphtha reforming reaction.The naphtha reformer catalyst that flows through the moving bed is drawn out of the catalyst regeneration unit with batch operation,and is returned to the reaction unit after regeneration.Formerly catalyst replacement had been done during every Shout Down Maintenance(SDM).However,Onlin Catalyst Replacement(OCR) removed the restriction of replacement timing,which enabled us to make the most of catalyst performance and to shorten the SDM perodi.Study results,methods and actual results of OCR are detailed in this report.
