JCl cease production at Shanghai plant

Production of lead-acid batteries will stop at Johnson Control's plant in Kangqiao, China. The plant was told to suspend production in February this year by the Shanghai municipal government following links to cases of lead poisoning. It has now announced it will no longer seek to continue lead processing at the facility. Two nearby production plants have also closed down following links to lead poisoning. It is claimed residents became sick because of contamination from the plants.
