CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF Dioscorea collettii van hyplauca

Dioscorea collettii Hook. f. var. hyplauca Palibin Pei et Ting is widely distributed in China. It is one of the most abundant species of the genus Dioscorea [1]. The rhizomes of D. collettii, as the traditional Chinese medicine "Fen Bixie," are used for the treatment of cervical carcinoma, carcinoma of the bladder, and renal tumor [2]. Several steroidal sapogenins were isolated from the rhizomes of the plant, which showed cytotoxic, hemolytic, antibacterial, and antifungal bioactivities [3-6].
