Preference of Images with Color Enhancement Assessed by Color Anomalous and Normal Observers

Color universal design is to use a common design for various types of observers, and this concept is applied to public signage in many places. On the other hand, color customization is a flexible system, which has been developed to make the most appropriate design for each group of observers, or each individual. Congenital color deficiencies are approximately 5% in Japanese males and 0.2% in Japanese femafes[1]. These numbers are not negligible, and hence, it is important to show correct color information for color deficiencies. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to precisely examine the effect of color enhancement on preference evaluation for both protan and deutan observers using various test images.
