摘要

One of the design method for closing the end of a pressure cylinder is to screw down a screw plug on the threaded end of the cylinder. In this case, there is the problem of stress concentration at the initial threaded part of the pressurecylinder. To solve the problem, it is necessary to know accurately the load distribution in the threaded end of the cylinder. In the guide to design for the threaded end of the cylinder, modified Sopwith's formula is used for expressing the theory ofthreads. Therefore, the propriety of its adaptability must be confirmed by means of experiments, etc. In this report, the following describes the experimentally-obtained load distribution on the straight4hread end and on the nut, a comparison withtheoretical and FEM-analytical ones, and a consideration about the adaptability of the formula.
