Suction-blister epidermal grafting is useful for the treatment of segmental vitiligo. For recipient site preparation, several methods, including psoralen ultraviolet (UV)A, liquid nitrogen freezing, CO_2 laser and dermabrasionhave been used. Recently, we found that epidermal grafts adhered permanently to the grafted sites prepared by suction blister in segmental vitiligo. We compared suction blister and CO_2 laser for recipient site preparation in epidermal grafting of segmental vitiligo.A 30-year-old woman presented with a 10-year history of well-defined white patches on the left side of the lower abdomen and back, which were diagnosed as segmental vitiligo. The lesions had been stable for the past 4 years, thus we chose epidermal grafting for her treatment. The patient gave her informed consent to the treatment.
