Moving picture coding method with region segmentation based on rate-distortion

摘要

In this paper, we propose the region segmentation moving picture coding method based on rate-distortion. Conventionally many researchers have been proposed some region segmentation coding methods, which are generally done as follows: 1. Segment based on the features of each part; 2. Classify segmented regions (and unify); and 3. Encode each segment. However, coding performance is not considered in these methods. So, we studied the region segmentation method based coding in the viewpoint of coding performance, and applied to the hybrid coding method. In the result of computer simulations, the performance of this method has improved considerably compared to that of the verification tool for MPEG-2.
