摘要

Several factors modify pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents. We recently reported that preoperative anticonvulsant therapy using carbamazepine and/or phenytoin shortens the duration of vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block under sevoflurane anesthesia. Recently, rocuronium, a new non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, is available and widely used in clinical settings in Japan. We, therefore, examined the effects of preoperatively administered phenytoin and carbamazepine on rocuronium-induced neuromuscular block under sevoflurane anesthesia in this retrospective clinical study.
