摘要

Humanitarian demining in post-war areas is gathering the worldwide interest. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is one of these promising techniques. In this report, we show one example of indoor test of the mine detection and 3-D imaging by GPR, and discuss its possibilities and limitation. The GPR is a stepped frequency system using 0.1-6GHz. Buried mine-like objects could be clearly image. However, clutter from the ground surface roughness and inhomogeneous subsurface material shades targets and identification of landmines from other targets is difficult. Advanced radar technologies including radar polarimetry and resonant frequency extraction will be useful for identification of buried land mines. Sensor fusion will be also very important.
