Mass mortlities were caused by Perkinsus qugwadi in Japanese scallop Patinopecten yessoensis transplanted into British Columbia, Canada, The parasite may be indigenous species in British Columbia and demonstrated strong pathogenicity after host switch to newly transplanted Japanese scallop.
