東日本大震災に伴う津波を起因とした洋上漂流物の現状

Tsunami that followed the great earthquake on Mar.l1 2011 was washed away colossal amounts of houses etc. into the Pacific Ocean. Some of the debris washed into the ocean has been carried by winds and ocean currents and scattered across the North Pacific Ocean. The report that published by MOE on Mar.15 2012 was estimated that the total amount of drifting tsunami debris is 1.5 Million tons and the accumulated value of arrived to the west coast of North America were 221,000 ton on Oct 2013. Although collection and disposal of the tsunami debris was very hard task at these areas, some debris has been collected by persistent efforts of residents and local gavoernment in this coastal area. The following is the report of the estimated value of amount arrived to the west coast of North America by MOE, the field surveys in U.S. and Canada by JEAN (non-profit environmental NGO) and the vidual observation on the North Pacific Ocean by Japanese Fisheries Highschool training vessels.
