A major problem facing governments and communities is the construction of an information-oriented society that meets people's desires for improved administrative services and freedom of information. Numerous systems using personal computers and PC servers have been set up with the aim of providing information services, but these systems have often not been successful because many elderly people find it difficult to operate personal computers.An information service system is needed that meets the requirements of easy setup, easy operation, and easy management. The InterText Vision (ITV) system satisfies these requirements. By registering the contents of various local community informationprograms in the ITV system, a local community information system can be realized that allows people to access these programs via their home television set.
