摘要

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) is widely used in aerospace and automotive industries because of its high specific strength and stiffness. Authors' research group has used electrical conductivity of carbon fiber as a sensor for damage detection of the CFRP laminates. Change of electric current routes in the CFRP laminates caused by a damage makes electrical resistance change. The change of electrical resistance of the CFRP structure has been studied as a self-sensing system for a smart structure or a nondestructive testing method.
