Design of RX-8

RX-8 is on a mission to inspire the future of Mazda brand as a brand icon packed with Mazda's challenge spirit that can be seen in its innovative layout, new-type door system and new rotary engine as well as the expertise of creating sports cars that have been developed within Mazda over the years. Creating a "New Sports Car Style" was the primary theme of the design development. In order to accurately succeed the Design DNA and create a sports car that shows our new spirit of sports car, we faced various challenges such as styling and representation of high quality feel. RX-8 has a lean body in consideration of high-power and airlines, yet also has an interior space that can accommodate four adults. In addition, we aimed for a sense of reality and tried to create a sense of verisimilitude by collectively coordinating the style, texture, material, color and function, thus achieving the best styling that characterizes Mazda Design DNA.
