Human factor analysis of JCO criticality accident: a comment on the analytical models

摘要

Using three different models seems to have added analytical value, although perhaps not as much as the labour expended would justify. In our present state of modelling and methodology, even CREAM - the model that makes most claims for precision, conceptual underpinning and clarity of methodology - is a relatively blunt instrument. Nonetheless, the 'triangulation' approach used in the analysis of the JCO criticality accident does provide insights beyond those that would be yielded by a single analytical model. Analytical models are complementary rather than conflicting, at least in the present state of the art.
