Effects of the time of deep-water treatment on growth and lodging resistance in Japonica type paddy rice (Oryza sativa L.).

The effects of different starting times and durations of deep water treatment (30 cm depth) on rice were investigated in Japan. Deep water from the stage at which productive tiller numbers are determined to the start of internode elongation increased the number of reproductive tillers and the diameter of the basal internode.
