Six out of 28 NATO member states do not possess combat aircraft and are unable to defend their own airspace: they need to rely on the Alliance's capabilities, Since 2004 this has applied to the three Baltic States. France - currently performing the mission for the fourth time - has been extremely busy compared to the previous mission in the Baltics, intercepting several Russian' military aircraft.
