Canadian enterostomal therapy nurses (ETNs) represent a' dynamic group of registered nurses who have corn-. pleted The Canadian Association for Enterostomal Therapy (CAET) 12-month distance education program in ostomy, wound and continence management (http://www.caet.ca) or programs offered by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence' Nurses Society (http://www.wocn.org). Many Canadian ETNs have successfully written the Canadian Nurses Association competency-based certification examination in enterostomal therapy nursing. This certification process for-mally recognizes the expertise of ETNs as nursing specialists in ostomy, wound and continence management (http:// www.cna.org).
