The gelation freezing method is one of the production methods for high porosity porous ceramics. Since this method enables the production of porous ceramics with over 90% micrometer size pore porosity, it can be applied for the production of insulation firebrick. This paper reports on insulation firebrick production by the gelation freezing method along with evaluations on properties such as those of thermal conductivity and compressive strength.
