It is well known that the corrosion resistance of magnesia-chrome bricks is higher as the content of chromium oxide is larger. Also, it is known that the growth of the bonding structure contributes to the improvement in the resistance against corrosion. Generally, the increase in the content of chromium oxide demands a higher sintering temperature because the bonding of matrix is related to the sintering temperature. From the view point of the energy savings, it is desirable to make the sintering temperature low because the elevation of sintering temperature links directly to the increase in the fuel. Therefore, the authors investigated relations among the erosion, the bonding structure and the content of chromium oxide in the case of the same sintering temperature.
