Alumina-magnesia castables are in wide and common use as refractories for steel ladles at present. One technique to attain a high durability is to strongly require the materials to have improved corrosion resistance to molten slag. In the present work the authors investigated the influence of MgO and SiO_2 content on the corrosion resistance to molten slag in alumina-magnesia castables containing chemical binder along with the use of colloidal silica and alumina cement.
