A screening tool for tinnitus-related distress - the Chinese version of Mini Tinnitus Questionnaire: Our experience in one hundred and fourteen adult patients

The Tinnitus Questionnaire (TQ) is one of the most widely accepted self-report measures, which aims to provide an assessment of the chief psychological effects of tinnitus. High internal consistency, reliability and stability over time have been reported for this scale. Similar factors were identified in factor analysis conducted in Germany,Australia and China. Despite its excellent psychometric properties, the application of Tinnitus Questionnaire in busy clinics has been hindered by the relatively long administration time required. An abridged version of Tinnitus Questionnaire (Mini-TQ) thus has been developed, to provide a quick and reliable measure of tinnitus-related psychological distress. It has been shown that the Mini-Tinnitus Questionnaire has high reliability and validity, and is suitable for rapid assessment of subjective tinnitus distress. The aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of a Chinese version of the Mini-Tinnitus Questionnaire.
