A late complication of migration after aortic endografting: injury to the superior mesenteric artery.

Editor:Aortic endovascular grafts incorporate design features to reduce the possibility of graft migration after implantation. To this end, the Zenith endograft (Cook, Inc, Bloomington, Indiana) has barbs incorporated in a suprarenal, bare metal portion of the graft to improve adherence to the aortic wall.We report a case in which late migration of a graft was associated with a severe stenosis of the superior mesenteric artery. To our knowledge, this specific complication has not been previously reported. We report the presentation of this complication and our management. An 82-year-old man with an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm was treated with a bifurcated Zenith endograft.
