Cocoa conference will help maintain momentum on sustainability

At the invitation of the Dutch government, it will take place in Amsterdam, the home of some of the world's largest processors and traders of cocoa and its products, on June 9-13. The Second World Cocoa Conference has been called by the InternationalCocoa Organization (ICCO), spurred by the success of the first, which brought together key stakeholders in the cocoa value chain to discuss how to meet the challenges ahead for their commodity in ways that would help bring about an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable cocoa economy. That conference concluded with the Abidjan Cocoa Declaration, whose signatories - a growing number of companies and organizations - commit themselves to working together to achieve this goal. In addition, participants adopted the so-called Global Cocoa Agenda, which sets out what needs to be done, the strategy to be followed and the best players to implement it.
