Tissue plasminogen activator in the percutaneous drainage of splenic abscess.

The use of fibrinolytic agents to assist in catheter drainage of abscesses is commonplace in our interventional radiology practice. However, there are few.reports describing the use of fibrinolytic agents for this purpose. Few prospective randomized trials are available, and these publications describe the use of thrombolytic agents only in the drainage of intracavitary abscesses.
