Leiomyosarcoma of a femoral vein misdiagnosed as deep vein thrombosis.

Leiomyosarcoma is a rare neoplasm that can originate from any smooth muscle cell. Here we describe a patient with a leiomyosarcoma of the femoral vein, in whom the symptoms were similar to those of deep vein thrombosis, resulting in initial misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, and a subsequently fatal outcome.
