Metastatic unresectable colorectal cancer: is the cost of treatment justified?

I am not a health economist. I have no formal training in medical economics; in fact, I never even took economics at college. My wife balances our checkbook, thank God. I have no real understanding of the cost of medical care I provide to my patients: I do not know how much a patient's insurance company pays or how much that patient and their family pay; neither do I know how much our medical institution receives for my services and the products we provide. I do know that cancer care is not free, even though we consume it as if it were. I do know that it is very expensive. So expensive that it has become a common focus as we seek to control the rising cost of medical care in our country and around the world. We claim great success in the treatment of patients with metastatic colorectai cancer.
