Dengue has become a serious public health problem in India. More than 50 outbreaks of dengue have been reported in different parts of the country. In India Aedes aegypti Linn (Diptera: Culicidae) is a principal vector of dengue and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF). Dengue virus has also been recently detected in Ae. albopictus Skuse. Ae. aegypti has a widespread distribution in many towns and cities of India. Now this vector is spreading to rural areas also.
