摘要

Aniline immobilized silica gel has been prepared using silane coupling agent for the extraction of chromium from environmental samples with a view to reuse the metal. The Cr~(3+) binding capacity was found to be 8.7 mg g~(-1) even at trace level of chromium in aqueous solution and the value was 17.13 mg g~(-1) at relatively higher metal ion concentration. The presence of chloride ion improved the metal ion binding capacity as well as selectivity. The developed material and the selective extraction method were tested by applying it in real samples and the results were compared with the reported values. A special drive has been made to reuse the extracted chromium. The chemistry involved in selective extraction has been elucidated.
