摘要

Parthenin, sesquiterpenelactone has been isolated from the aerial parts of Parthenium hysterophorus along with stigmasterol, β-sitosterol, isoparthenin, coronopilin and 11,13-dihydroparthenin. The compound has been converted into anhydroparthenin by conventional and microwave methods. The compouns were characterized by their spectral (IR mass, ~1H, ~(13)C NMR) data and evaluated for their antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Fusarium oxysporum.
