STUDIES ON MORPHOLOGY OF EGG OF Lyctus africanus THROUGH SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE (SEM)

Eggs of Lyctus africanus cannot be seen under any conventional microscope as they are deposited through the pores inside the vessel lumen of the timber by inserting the ovipositor into it. Eggs of Lafrianus were observed through S.E.M in rubber wood veneer. Eggs were seen laid one behind the other in the vessel iumen; they were hyaline and oval in shape. The length, breadth and area occupied seen through SEM are measured and tabulated.
