The paper reports a three-phase stator current spatial vector analysis (Parke's vector) method for the fault monitoring in induction motors. The fault monitoring method classifies the induction motor as healthy or faulty. The tracking of spatial angular vector profile of stator current (Parke's vector) is used to detect the mechanical and electrical fault conditions in induction motors. Any significant divergence from ideal circular shape in Parke's vector points to some form to electrical or mechanical fault conditions associated with stator or rotor in the induction motor. The results related to the fault monitoring technique are presented to establish that they work well irrespective of motor rating, supply voltage and frequency. Matlab Simulink software along with dSPACE DS1104DSP control card and controldesk software have been used to obtain the experimental results and verification done thereof.
