Flat frequency response of tubing system over a range of frequency is an important requirement in any pressure measurement study on a model of a building using wind tunnel test. A new dynamic pressure calibrator model has been designed and fabricated in-house in the present study. The pressure fluctuations in the air inside the calibrator are sensed through (i) the tubing system consisting of a long tube, with and without restrictor and manifold and (ii) a short length tube, using pressure transducer. The air column inside the calibrator is excited for a range of frequencies from 0 to 500Hz at an interval of 20Hz. The ratios of spectral amplitude of the tubing systems under study and the corresponding value of the short length tube are computed and plotted. Five different tubing systems have been calibrated for their dynamic characteristics. The responses as obtained from the experiment are also compared with the analytical values. Performance of the tubing systems tested and principles of the pressure calibrator are explained in this paper.
