Tap water samples (Agra city, 27° 10' N, 78° 05' E, located in the north central part of India, 204 km from Delhi) were taken from nine sampling sites of different locations at Agra city. The samples were analyzed for sensitive and stable monitoring of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cu and Zn) by Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (DPASV) using hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). The pre-concentration of metals was performed in 0.1 mol/L HNO_3 at -1.2 V for 90 s. The electrochemical results were compared with data from Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) measurements of the same samples.
