摘要

Electrochemical reactions between dropping mercury electrode and electro active species in solution interface are important in polarography. Author has reported the kinetic parameters of [ Zn-antibiotics - cephalothin] system and relates them with transition state and rate constant. Antibiotics and cephalosporines are important drugs used against almost all kinds of diseases. On the other hand, copper is an essential element present in brain, liver, heart, kidney and the pigmented parts of the eye. It is a constituent of many enzymes such as hemocyanin, tyrosinase, lysal oxidase, ascorbic acid oxidase, cytochrome, oxidase, uricase, monoamine oxidase and dopamine hydroxylase. The excess amount of Cu in kidney causes Wilson's disease. A systematic survey of literature reveals that no reference is available on the complexes of copper with these drugs polarographically. Hence, the author has undertaken the present study.
