Three voltage stability indicators being established, this investigation aims to highlight the role of conventional corrective measures ie application of static VAR compensator (SVC) and strategic load shedding (SLS) in longitudinal power supply (LPS) systems for correction of dynamic voltage collapse quantitatively indicated by these stability indicators under heavy loading condition, reactive power deficit and line tripping contingency. The simulation exhibits the utility of corrective measures, particularly installation of SVC during dynamic voltage decay when the system is actually more 'strained' than the case when dynamic voltage decay was not considered.
