-An iterative method for determining the terminal free settling velocity of spherical particles in any 'static' fluid medium is described in this article. Model equations have been selected, based on the critical review of literature. A comparison has also been made on the predicted free settling velocities of spherical quartz density panicle using the developed methodology and a frequently used single equation based methodology. Further comparison of these two methodologies with some fairly accurate experimental data establishes the superiority of the developed methodology over the other.
