摘要

The performance, longevity and reliability of a component is influenced by the quality of machining of its surfaces. Grinding is the most widely used finishing process. During grinding the high temperatures and forces in the zone of interaction between the abrasive (grinding) wheel and the workpiece cause heavy plastic deformation of the workpiece material inducing residual stresses on the surface layers of the component. These residual stresses can influence the functional properties of machined component. In this paper the influence of residual stresses and microstrain on the corrosion behaviour of ground low carbon steel components is examined.
