摘要

The effect of solid concentration on velocity field in a slurry pipeline transporting multi-sized particulate solid-liquid mixtures has been studied. The velocity field has been measured using a specially designed two-hole offset probe with a modified pressure sensing mechanism. Measurements have quantified the effect of efflux concentration on parameters associated with velocity field namely, degree of asymmetry, peak velocity and its location. The results have shown that the velocity field for the flow of multi-sized particulate solid-liquid flow through horizontal pipes is highly asymmetric at low flow rates. The extent of asymmetry in velocity profile increases with increase in concentration which is also accompanied by an increase in the magnitude of peak velocity. At higher flow rates, the asymmetry ratio reduces marginally for higher efflux concentrations.
