Water is essential for the flora and fauna systems. In earth planet, 79% part is covered by water. 97% of earth's water is saline, 2.4% water is present in glaciers and polar region. Thus only 0.6% water is useful for drinking, domestic, agricultural and industrial purpose. Now a days, the different water systems are continuously getting polluted due to natural and anthropogenic sources. The water quality is normally characterised by different physicochemical properties. These parameters change widely due to the type of pollution, hence a regular monitoring of different water sources are necessary to determined the quality and degree of pollutant. In Bilaspur district large, middle and small scall industries are located from which, untreated and partially treated industrial effluents are continuously discharged into small ponds, rivers and other aquatic system, resulting surface water (SW) and ground water (GW) sources are getting pollutents in different amount. Earlier workers have been carried out extensive studies on water quality. In continuation of our previous work, we have taken systematic investigation on water quality measurement. From literature survey, revealed, however that no systematic and detailed investigation has been conducted to assess the quality of industrial effluent of Bilaspur district. Therefore the present study has been revealed to assess the water quality status in industrial field of Bilaspur district. Keeping this view, we have undertaken the monitoring of various water quality such as temp., pH, electrical conductivity (EC), turbidity, TS, TDS, TSS, DO, BOD, COD, alkalinity, hardness, fluoride, chloride, Na, K, Mg, and Ca in surface and ground water.
