摘要

Schiff base complexes have played a central role in the development of coordination chemistry. Among these schiff bases, azomethines have occupied a place of considerable importance because of their wide range of applications like anti-tumor, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activities. Earlier work reported that some drugs showed increased activity when administrated as metal chelates. In the present communication we report the synthesis, spectroscopic and biocidal studies of Mn (II), Co (II) and Zn (II) complexes with schiff base (AZM-SA) derived from 5-acetamido-1,3,4- thiadiazole-2-sulphonamide(AZM) and salicylaldehyde. The biological activities of ligand and metal complexes have also been studied.
