I was present at the auditorium of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta when Professor S.P. Raychaudhuri delivered the 1st Professor J.N. Mukherjee - Indian Society of Soil Science Foundation Lecture. Professor J.N. Mukherjee was too incapacitated to be present and a short recorded message from him was played. Eternal silence creeped in after a fortnight or so.
