Biological Screening and Chemical Constituents of Viburnum grandiflorum

摘要

Extensive chromatographic separation and purification of the chloroform soluble fraction of the anti-malarial plant, Viburnum grandiflorum afforded six known compounds namely, 3-hy(lrox)-4,7-megastigmadiene-9-one (1), β-silosterol (2), awabukinol (3). 1-oxo-erythrodiol (4), hipeol (5) and 10 acetylpatrinoside (6). The structures of these compounds were determined by spectroscopic and available data in literature. Compounds 6 showed strong inhibition against both of J. B. urease and B. P. urease with IC_(50) values of 10.45 and 8.65 respectively while compounds 4 and 6 showed strong antimicrobial activities against various pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
