摘要

The past few years have seen dramatic changes in the world of embedded systems, emerging a plethora of new concepts and alternatives. Nevertheless, in most of research papers a fixed set of design decisions is assumed, that is, they propose a particular design, one whose design decisions have been fixed in the design process. A design process, however, usually involves an optimization. It is often carried out by simulation and scanning the design space for the best or for a good enough set of design choices. From a design space approach, all considered design aspects and available choices for each of the considered aspects should be represented. In conclusion, we think that it is of considerable importance to publish research papers that show and explore the design space, describing all the possible alternatives (design choices) prior to a particular decision.
