The morphology has been studied of diamond single crystals produced by the temperature gradient method under variation of the temperature conditions of growing. Using microscopy and goniometry, intricate habits of the crystals have been examined, a number of simple forms (rare for diamond) have been found ({931}, {971}, etc. of hexoctahedra) and their faces have been studied. The formation of simple forms on diamond crystals is shown to be due to a high heat transfer from the crystallization front by a growing crystal.
