If the horticultural industry is the identity of the Netherlands, cocopeat is its breath of life. Almost 100% of horticultural commodity planted in the non-soil media in the Netherlands, the windmill country, are cultivated on cocopeat. There are manyreasons of using cocopeat. First, cocopeat is renewable planting media, as cocopeat is derived from coconut fiber. The availability of coconut, which is commonly cultivativated in tropical countries, is abundant. This can replace the "original" peat - the decomposition of plant materials such as from the sphagnum genus which is becoming more difficult to obtain now.
